Evaluations for Private School Admission
Students age 4-21
Private schools often require applicants to submit the results of recent cognitive and academic assessments as part of the admissions packet. The purpose of an evaluation for private school admissions is to administer assessments that satisfy the private school's admissions requirements and accurately reflect an individual’s current cognitive abilities and academic functioning.
The scope of an evaluation for private school admission includes cognitive and academic assessments. The results are interpreted within the context of the individual's developmental, health, school history, personal background, and experiences, as well as and information gathered through clinical observations and parent input, and (when appropriate) school-based observations and teacher input.
A Wechsler Scale of Intelligence (preschool or school-age) or the Woodcock-Johnson Test of Cognitive Abilities, Fourth Edition is used to assess cognitive abilities. The Wechsler Individual Test of Achievement, Third Edition, Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement, Third Edition or the Woodcock-Johnson Test of Academic Achievement, Fourth Edition is used to assess academic achievement in literacy and math. Additional assessments may be administered if required.
The standard rate for an evaluation is $850 but may be higher or lower depending on the scope of the evaluation. The exact cost is determined before the evaluation begins.
