The purpose of a comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation is to help students and families gain a better understanding of an individual’s cognitive and learning profile and how the profile impacts learning and education. The evaluation seeks to clarify the presence of a learning disability (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, nonverbal learning disability) or other disability (ADHD, Autism, Emotional or Behavioral Disorder, Intellectual Disability).


An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) is a specific evaluation defined within the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). It is usually pursued when a parent/guardian disagrees with the scope or findings of the school-based evaluation. The purpose of an IEE is to provide the parent and the school with an independent and unbiased professional opinion.


An evaluation for 504 accommodations assesses an individual’s need for accommodations within the higher-education setting and/or on college board exams. The purpose of the evaluation is to gain a better understanding of the individual's learning profile and to clarify the presence of an educationally relevant disability and related functional limitations.


Private schools often require applicants to submit the results of recent cognitive and academic assessments as part of the admissions packet. The goal of Private School Admissions Evaluations is to administer assessments that accurately reflect a student's current cognitive abilities and satisfies the private school's admissions requirements.


The goal of a gifted evaluation is to gain a better understanding of the student's cognitive and learning strengths, highlighting the educational impact of their strengths, including any related educational needs, and to determine the presence of “giftedness.” The evaluation provides recommendations that can help guide parents in educational decision-making.


Screening assessments can be a good starting point for determining current academic levels and areas of concern and useful in guiding next steps and appropriate interventions. These same assessments and other individualized assessments can be administered regularly to monitor a student’s rate of progress toward their goals and/or evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention or program.
